Ted Nugent: 'Love That Motörhead!'
Detroit rock and roller Ted Nugent is on the road with a variety of names this summer — everyone from ZZ Top to Derek St. Holmes — playing casinos, amphitheaters and the Chicago House of Blues. In the midst of all the touring, the 62-year-old musician has revealed he’s actually a big fan of Motörhead.
“Love the Lem! Love that Motörhead!” he excitedly told The Other Paper TV show on Outdoor Channel continues to obliterate all things status quo,” he said. “You gotta witness it as often as possible. Killer TV. Literally.”
No matter how you carve it, Nugent is here to stay, and he says this period of playing live is his best yet.
“I’m living way beyond the dream, baby!” he said. “Best rock season of my life, headed for the best hunting season of my life, family is great, spirit and attitude on fire.

Sung by original vocalist Derek St. Holmes, “Hey Baby,” the evening's sole nod to pop music, was the night's most rewarding song. When St. Holmes wasn't acting as the lead vocalist, Nugent peppered most songs with interjections and asides.
Nugent is currently in the midst of his I Still Believe tour, which has him reunited with former band member Derek St. Holmes to bring the best of Nugent and St. Holmes' high-energy performances to markets across North America.

At this show in front of several hundred enthused Ted heads, the special guest singer was a more than welcome addition. For those who may have forgotten, it was St. Holmes who lent his pipes to “Hey Baby”, “Strangehold” and “Dog Eat Dog” to name a few. His high tenor provided a foil for Nugent’s rough screams on those early records, and was sorely missed in recent years since reunions of the two old pals were few and far between. But an entire tour with St. Holmes and Nugent? This is one not to be missed.
With help from Dokken’s Mick Brown on drums and Greg Smith on bass, or what Nugent brands as the best rhythm section in the world, the band dove into catalog hits and rare cuts alike. The latter part included “Turn It Up”, a fiery rarity from the Free-for-All album. Nugent was in fine form, and what’s more is that St. Holmes is still sporting a voice of steel.
