2011 MLB All-Star Festivities Resume Tonight With Home Run Derby2
Broadcast tonight with an All-Star Baseball edition after the other begins at 11:30 CT Sportscenter.Currently, the National League is the favorite according to Bodog with Runline of -1.5 and Moneyline -115. The American League is 1.5 and 105 respectively. The National League won the contest last year 3-1 and holds a 41-38-2 all-time competitive advantage in the series. The winner hosts the World Series to come, so there's definitely something to play.
Home Run Derby during All-Star festivities on the night of Monday at Chase Field.After finishing second in the first round to Adrian Gonzalez, Cano and Gonzalez tied with 20 home runs in the second round to advance to the finals. In the finals scored were erased and the winner would be the one with the highest score.
Cano, who has 15 home runs this season, hit 12 home runs in the finals to top Gonzalez’s 11. It was quite the upset when you think about Cano’s career high in home runs is 29 and Gonzalez has hit over 30 four time so far in his career.
Cano become the first Yankee to win the Home Run Derby since Jason Giambi defeated Sammy Sosa in 2002.
All-Star Home Run Derby.Cano and Gonzalez both went above and beyond the competition in round two, hitting 20 home runs each. Cano had a long ball of 458 in the round, while Gonzalez hit one 452 feet.
David Ortiz and Prince Fielder each made it through to the second round as well, but both finished well behind with just nine home runs. In round two, Fielder hit the longest home run so far, a shot of 474 feet.
He figured to be a longshot to win the competition, but don’t let that fool you about the power that Brewers second basemen Rickie Weeks has. Coming into the All-Star break, he had 17 home runs for the Brewers. However tonight he posted just three home runs during the first round, with a long of 427 feet.
Jose Bautista, who briefly donned a Royals uniform in 2004, has a major league leading 31 home runs so far this season, but the two-time All-Star only posted four home runs in the first round with a long of just 412 feet, the shortest distance among the competition thus far (for respective longest distances).
It appears as though Adrian Gonzalez has set the high water mark so far, but my two guys to key on in Prince Fielder and Matt Kemp have yet to hit.
Even though he didn’t beat Adrian Gonzalez first round lead of 9 home runs in the 2011 Home Run Derby, New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano made a show of his appearance in the first round with the longest home run so far at 472 feet and 8 total home runs.

The Cardinals are worth a small bet on the line to run when you consider they have the advantage on the mound. Houston scheduled commencement Wandy Rodriguez is struggling.
