Stickman BMX Review

Most games with “BMX” in their titles are extreme sports games, but not this one. Stickman BMX is a platformer through and through. You do pull off tricks in the game, but they happen automatically every time you jump. There’s no need to worry about landing the tricks, because that’s done automatically, too. The goal in each of the 60 levels is to get from point A to point B, preferably without crashing.

The only thing you have to worry about is navigating the sloping environments and avoiding obstacles like birds, cars, trees, spikes, and the occasional demon from hell . In the beginning of the game, making it through the levels unscathed is pretty easy, but the difficulty ramps up at a smooth clip as you progress. Each level has several checkpoints, and in later levels you’ll be glad they do.

But this wouldn’t be an iOS game if you couldn’t get three trophies on each level. To nab these and impress your friends, you’ll have to finish each level without crashing, collect the stars scattered about, as well as the five smiley-face tokens in each level. Getting 100% requires multiple runs through each level, and gives the game a good deal of replay value once you’ve completed the already considerable amount of content.

But what really makes Stickman BMX stand out is its terrific level design. The levels are like what you’d get if you put Sonic the Hedgehog and The Impossible Game in a blender. You’ll find multiple pathways to explore and plenty of hills to give you speed, along with deadly pits and obstacles that require nano-second reflexes. Thankfully, the streamlined controls are up to the task.

We only have two complaints about the game. First, although the game has five distinct environments, the graphics are just this side of ugly. And more importantly, there's nothing in the game that we haven't seen or played before-- it’s all pretty standard platforming stuff. But the level design is solid, and they use tried-and-true platforming mechanics to very good effect here, so we can't complain too much.

You may do nothing more than move forward and jump in Stickman BMX, but it’s loads of fun to play. If you’re looking for a basic action game that wires into oldschool platforming fun, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve been searching for the past hour on the net and I simply can’t find the image I’m after. I need a silhouette of a fox sitting, with it’s tail wrapped around it’s feet, facing forward. It’s as simple as that and I just can’t find it. I’m happy to tweak it a bit if it’s not quite right but I’m not very good at drawing so need something to start with. I’ve looked at loads of clip art sites to no avail. I thought there was a clothing brand or some other company with this as their logo but can’t find it. Any help would be much appreciated!!!
